USEPA Strengthens Underground Storage Tank Requirements.
- Abstract
The article reports that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has strengthened its requirements for underground storage tanks (USTs). The move is intended to improve the detection and prevention of petroleum releases from the tank which causes groundwater contamination. The application of the secondary containment and operator training requirements of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 to USTs on tribal lands is mentioned. Provisions under the revised requirements are also presented.
