- Abstract
The article discusses the ways of how some banks develop and implement an operational loss data collection program for risk-management purposes. A background on operational risk, the main elements of focus in loss data collection and the implementation processes of banks are presented. The experiences of commercial, retail and other banks concerning losses and the data issues of timing of recording legal losses and the allocation of losses affecting multiple business lines are explored.
