- Abstract
The work analyzes the statistics and causes of accidents at Ukrainian enterprises. It has been determined which equipment deficiencies cause occupational diseases. Directions for equipment improvement are formulated, which must be taken into account when developing and upgrading equipment. It has been established that the main causes of accidents at domestic factories are organizational. Eliminating these causes does not require an "industrial revolution" and significant financial costs. It is sufficient for the employer and department heads to understand that failure to create safe and comfortable conditions for employees will lead to unexpected losses. Therefore, motivation is needed for the management to faithfully comply with the existing legislation on labor protection. The most "painful" reasons for Ukrainian realities are the ignoring of instructions on labor safety, improper performance of job duties, mismatch of knowledge and skills of employees and managers to the positions they hold. Timely and thorough briefings, training in safe work methods (which do not require financial costs) provide an opportunity to increase the level of knowledge of employees. This will reduce the likelihood of injuries at work, as well as ensure employees' confidence in their actions, which will be reflected in their productivity. An employee who is satisfied with working conditions is always interested in the competitiveness of the enterprise. At enterprises where safe and comfortable working conditions are created, there is no staff turnover. The reduction of control by the state has led to the fact that the mandatory requirements of domestic legislation on labor protection are not fulfilled by employers. After the pandemic and the war, domestic enterprises will experience a real "hunger" for workers as a result of the demographic situation and labor migration. Employers who do not understand that occupational health and safety measures are a necessity will suffer losses that will directly affect their profits. The discipline "Labor protection" is gradually disappearing from the curricula of bachelors, which will inevitably further worsen the situation with working conditions at Ukrainian enterprises in the future.
