- Abstract
The article discusses a study which investigated the metabolic syndrome in five Omani Arab families. Heritability of the phenotypic abnormalities was estimated by variance decomposition method. Abnormalities making the syndrome include obligatory waist circumference, hypertension, raised fasting blood glucose, low serum high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and raised serum triglycerides (TGs).
