- Title
Life in Plastic: Artistic Responses to Petromodernity. Edited by Caren Irr.

- Abstract
The next two sections, "Plasticity of Genre" and "Plastic's Capitalism", offer insight into how the plastic imaginary of highconsumption nations haunts the rest of the world. What art can do is better articulate that ubiquity, while also finding possibilities of hope by perversely and more radically embracing the plasticity of our "becoming-plastic" (274). Paul Morrison's Freudian analysis of this "nostril-flaring" (39) plastic kitsch melodrama makes even more sense through Breu's "petrochemical unconscious.".
