- Abstract
Surveying existing studies from the past 50 years, this paper explores the existence of any relationship, be it a positive or a negative one, between grades and career success. This foray into the past uncovers a wide variety of conclusions, ranging from a strong positive to a negative to a statistically insignificant correlation between grades and career success. intertwined within these conclusions is a large body of subjective opinions. Therefore, the only reasonable conclusion that results from this exercise is that there probably is a relationship between grades and career success but it is not one that has been conclusively measured as of yet. Human beings are a complicated lot to analyze and quantify. Nevertheless, statistical analyses go a long way in satisfying one's in tuition and curiosity. For this topic all one has to do to accomplish this is to believe the studies with which they agree.
