- Abstract
The pharmaceutical market offers a number of different drugs. The pharmacist is the professional responsible for the dispensing of drugs being qualified for possible exchange between bioequivalent drugs. Interchangeability, a process on which exchanges occur between drugs of proven equivalence - referring, generic or otherwise, can and should happen legally supported, when consumers opt for this exchange. This study aimed to research the sale and usage orientation of generic medications in pharmacies from Maringá-PR. Were interviewed 51 pharmacies by prescriptions for the drug ASTRO 500mg and Nimesulide. It was observed that most of the establishments makes the interchangeability of generic drug by similar or otherwise. Was observed dispensing without concern the legality of some existing drugs by another similar drug. It was noted that 68% dispensed what was prescribed and 32% indicated another drug with the same active ingredient. Of the establishments surveyed 41.20% indicated the generic without offering substitute another drug and 49% indicated similar drug. Many professional pharmacists don't act lawfully in relation to interchangeability of drugs, without concern with worrying about providing the correct information, as well as consumer rights, targeting only the cost / benefit and leaving aside the option of patient choice.
