- Abstract
The article presents information on various programs that have been started to nurse older people with dignity. As part of this, Liam Byrne, Minister of Parliament, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Care Services, has recently announced that all care staff, rather than just qualified social workers, will be required to register with the Great Britain General Social Care Council. In doing so, he took the opportunity to again highlight the need for everyone involved in health and care to be prepared to play their part in ensuring that older people's dignity is respected and protected. It will mean that social care staff involved in the care of older people will be governed by codes of practice like those to which registered nurses are already accountable.
