The article looks back at the history of the arrival of U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Robert Houghwout Jackson in Washington. A background on the criminal trial of former U.S. Treasury Secretary Andrew W. Mellon on charges of tax evasion is provided. It highlights the positions held by Jackson including at the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Justice Department, and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Focus is given on the struggle of the Supreme Court for judicial supremacy and reform.
