- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of high inequality and poverty on economic development in Africa. It is projected by the periodical "The Economist" that Africa will experience economic growth during the period of 2013-2023, based on its rich mineral resources. Progress has been recorded in sub-Saharan Africa with a decline in absolute number of poor people in the region. Revenues from natural resources and discoveries of oil, gas and minerals are expected to hasten poverty reduction.
