- Abstract
The study aims to explore attitudes, usage, and difficulties teachers might confront while using Twitter for professional development (PD). The sample consisted of 405 teachers who work for the General Directorate of Education in Makkah. The instrument was a survey-type questionnaire. The researcher tested its validation by using content and construct validity. Alpha Cronbach showed a high reliability of 0.82, 0.93, and 0.81 for the three dimensions attitude, usage, and difficulties, respectively. The findings indicated that teachers have an undecided attitude toward Twitter and sometimes use it for PD. In addition, they occasionally confront obstacles while using twitter for PD. The results also uncovered that there were no statistically significant differences among responses regarding age and workplace. The results, however, were significant with the subjects’ obtained degree, when they started using Twitter, and how frequently they used it.
