- Abstract
An essay is presented which relates the failure of the U.S. government to prioritize the physical health of public housing tenants in the context of the history of housing as instrumental to public health in New York City. Topics covered include regulations related to health and safety conditions of housing that highlight the difference between the rights and remedies of private and public housing tenants and separate and unequal protection of New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) tenants.
