- Title
¡Bien Gorgeous! The cultural work of Eduardo Alegría.
- Authors
Blasini, Gilberto Moisés
- Abstract
This essay looks at the cultural work of Eduardo Alegría--performance art, postmodern dance, and electro-acoustic "post-pop" music--in the context of contemporary Puerto Rican artistic practices. In particular, the essay examines how Alegría explores some of the different identity axes that have marked Puerto Rican subjectivities since the 1990s through a queer idiosyncratic style infused with camp, parody, kitsch, melodrama, and standup comedy.
