- Abstract
The article focuses on the life of Jacob Stern, a Jewish merchant, and his family. He and his cousin established the Stern and Goodman Mercantile Company which handled various services, such as clothing, furniture and groceries. He married Sarah Laventhal and bore four children. His business expanded and later he engaged in the real estate business. He was able to purchase a part of property at what is now known as Hollywood and Vine Streets in Los, Angeles, California. Also presented is the life of Harold Stern, son of Jacob and who heads the real estate business of his father.
