- Abstract
This study aims to discuss epistemological and theoretical fundamentals of Positive Organizational Behavior (POB) scientifical research based on Positive Psychology (PP) contributions. The method applied consists in a theoretical essay, exploring POB and PP literature. Thus, the importance of considering the variety of epistemologies that can lead to different methodological and theoretical approaches to work-related psychosocial phenomena is defended. To achieve this, the positivist approach in social sciences is problematized. Next, the contributions of positive psychology in organizations to POB studies are discussed. Following this, the relationship between the objectivist approach and the sociological paradigms proposed by Burrell and Morgan (1979) is presented in PP and POB studies. The study concludes that the clarity of academic research on epistemological bases can imply a deeper and more contextualized understanding research, people and organizations' development, fostering to a critical and reflective vision.
