- Abstract
The article reports on the impact of the Mexican government's denial of the right to citizenship on Chiapas' indigenous children. The challenges being faced by such children include a high rate of infant mortality, malnutrition, and illiteracy. In response, the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has supported several programs, including sponsoring Civil Registration drives in communities. The article also discusses the right to social welfare and the conflict between the right to education and the right to work.
