The article examines the uncertainties in laws concerning federal estate taxation in the U.S. Topics discussed include changes of the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012; the government proposed legislation to repeal the estate tax; role of income tax in estate planning; and enactment of the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001.
