- Abstract
Time and history are inseparable. Various questions can come up here. What's time? To what extent is creation a condition of time? How does time manifest itself in the light of revelation? How far is the understanding of time conditioned by Christ's revelation? Barth's interpretation of time is as voluminous and multi-layer as his theology. Barth interprets occupation with time as one of the basic problems of Christian theology. A development can be perceived in his view of time during his theological work. What is time? According to Barth the answer to this question can be mediated taking into account the Christ-event. While interpreting the concept of time, Barth criticizes Augustinus classical interpretation of time and the early Heidegger's modern interpretation. This way we gain insight into Barth's specific view of time.
