- Title
Immediate Single Implant Placement After Extraction in Thin Biotype Cases: Considerations for Success.
- Authors
Van Dooren, Eric
- Abstract
The article explores different treatment modalities for implant placement after extraction in thin biotypes. The most significant factor in planning treatment for immediate implant placement in an extraction site is knowing the difference between thick and thin biotypes. A thick biotype is generally linked to square tooth form, short interdental papillae, and low-scalloped tissue. Meanwhile, a thin biotype posses a more triangular tooth form, long interdental papillae and high scalloped, thin soft tissue. Case studies of immediate implant placement in thin biotypes are presented. These cases includes an atraumatic extraction, gentle soft tissue manipulation, flapless implant placement and final abutment connection on the day of surgery.
