- Title
New Pulp Investments and Development: Lessons from Latin America and Finland.
- Authors
Kröger, Markus
- Abstract
The article discusses the pulp investments in Latin America and Finland. It states that the Finnish company Botnia SA is the largest single foreign investment in Finland totaling over 1 billion Euros as rural towns in the country are benefiting the industry, on the other hand, these jobs move abroad to Latin America with citizens trying to stop the investments. It notes that pulp investment is a resistance to modernization as it is irrational and environmental hazard. Moreover, the paper industry has so much to learn as pulp investments also violate national borders.
