Margaret Fuller's New Vision of the Relation Between Women and Men.
- Authors
BUELL, LAWRENCE
- Abstract
The article discusses author and intellectual Margaret Fuller's views on the relationship between men and women. Particular focus is given to her book "Woman in the Nineteenth Century". According to the author, the book reflected several goals of the Transcendentalist movement, such as enabling individuals to reach their highest potential and eliminating social inequalities. Topics discussed include Fuller's views on the differences between the sexes, women's potential for greatness as demonstrated in myths and legends, and women's subjugation to men. The author concludes by arguing that Fuller's feminist criticism of her era also has relevance in modern times.
