- Title
Unique aspects of azole resistance in Cryptococcus neoformans.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article discusses the unique aspects of fluconazole resistance in Cryptococcus neoformans (C. neoformans), a fungus that causes fungal meningoencephalitis in immunocompromised patients. Studies found that the fungal meningoencephalitis of patients who are highly resistant to fluconazole were lost during repeated transfer on drug free media without loosing the basal subpopulation of resistant cells. The heteroresistance to fluconazole is also assessed to be intrinsic in C. neoformans.
