- Abstract
The article reports on the consulate of the Kingdom of Sardinia Jerusalem during 1843-1849. It refers to J. C. Berchet's book "Le voyage en Orient. Antologie des voyageurs francais dans le Levant au XIXe siecle." It reports on Catholic lawyer Luigi Lenchantin, the first Sardinian consul in Jerusalem, who illustrated to his superior to Turin the "monstrous solemnity" of Holy Fire, celebrated every year on Easter Eve Greeks.
