- Authors
Wright, Robert G.; Allen, Mark
- Abstract
The article focuses on the sailing ship Star of India and its restoration from 1959 to 1963 for the Maritime Museum of San Diego. Particular attention is paid to the attorney Jack A. Donnelley, who was appointed the General Chairman of the Committee to Save the Star of India in 1959. The article discusses fundraising efforts made by the Committee to Save the Star of India and the challenges faced when the ship was under restoration. The ship was rechristened on November 14, 1963 in the presence of British sailor Alan Villiers, who had been involved in raising awareness of the need for the ship's restoration.
