- Authors
Zinger, Nimrod
- Abstract
The article presents an examination of the medical world that German-Jewish patients encountered in the 17th and 18th centuries. It discusses the value that patients' accounts hold when exploring medical history and draws on three memoirs in order to highlight the early modern medical experience. The author examines how German-Jews sought medical care, discusses the types of treatments administered for various illnesses and compares these findings with non-Jewish accounts of medical care during the early modern period. The paper explores topics such as self-treatment, bodily perception and early modern medical knowledge.
