- Title
Collective Representation Reappraised.
- Authors
Hurley, Patricia A.
- Abstract
The article presents a critique of and an extension of Weissberg's theory of collective representation. It redefines collective representation as the extent to which policy output magnify nation-wide public preferences. It is also mentioned that if one employs Weissberg's definition of representation as having one's point of consideration articulated in the legislature, collective representation looks better than dyadic. On the other hand, when defined as a collective satisfaction with the outcome, collective representation enjoys the advantage over dyadic on only two House votes out of seven.
