- Abstract
Noncontrast, noninvasive blood oxygen level-dependent MRI (BOLD-MRI) is a most important tool to estimate oxygenation in the kidneys. In this issue of Acta Physiologica, Cantow et al. demonstrate how measuring dynamic changes in kidney size can be a simple tool to help interpreting blood oxygenation in the kidneys from noninvasive fMRI T2*-measurements. Nevertheless, it is likely that including kidney size measurements in future experiments with T2* measurements will become a simple means of revealing if factors other than oxygenation are in play.
