- Abstract
This article aims to develop a reflection about the interrelation among the rhetorical proofs -- logos, ethos and pathos -- in the disciplinary scope of Discourse Analysis, dialoging with the rhetorical tradition, the Sophistic and the modern authors who occupy themselves with this subject, such as Ruth Amossy, Michel Meyer, Christian Plantin and others. Therefore, this study assumes that, more than stable and theoretically marked out categories, the rhetorical proofs are three dimensions or "angles" of a unique discourse or, in other terms, they are three tools or "reading keys" available for interpretation and speculation on their possible effects. As there is a lack of discursive analysis which are capable of illustrating/demonstrating such theoretical premises, this research contains both, a first part, that is geared towards a theoretical reflection, and a second part, exclusively reserved for the analysis of a political discourse that circulated in Brazil, in 2010, prior to the Presidential Elections.
