- Title
Abiogenic origin of petroleum hydrocarbons: Need to rethink exploration strategies.
- Authors
Paropkari, Anil L.
- Abstract
The article presents the author's perspective on the theory of abiogenic origin of petroleum hydrocarbon. He cited that the theory suggests that natural petroleum was formed from deep carbon deposits, and it explains the origin of commercial accumulations of petrochemicals. He also cites a study in the Indian context, that the association of the gas-oil deposits and gas hydrate deposits with the fractured crust/tectonically active region affirms the theory of abiogenic hydrocarbon formation.
