- Abstract
This article explores the difficulties faced in accessing necessary medication after a teleconsultation, particularly in areas with limited pharmacy and medical services. It emphasizes the negative consequences of this lack of access, such as increased morbidity, mortality, and poor patient experience. The article presents a range of solutions that have been implemented globally, including pharmacy boxes, medicine chests, remote controlled medication vending machines, and the use of drones for medication delivery. Each option is discussed in terms of its advantages and disadvantages. The article also discusses various methods of providing medication to patients in remote areas through telepharmacy, such as anticipatory care packs, rescue packs, and medication retrieval by healthcare support workers. It highlights the need for further research to ensure safe implementation and improvement for patients, while also considering the perspectives of patients and stakeholders.
