- Title
CHOLESTEROL-REDUCING DRUGS MAY LESSEN BRAIN FUNCTION.
- Authors
Cuomo, Amanda
- Abstract
The article focuses on a study conducted by Dr. Yeon-Kyun Shin which shows that cholesterol-reducing drugs may lessen brain function. According to Dr. Shin, cholesterol is generally known as building block of the biomembranes, not as an active regulators of the biological process. He reveals that cholesterol induces a large conformational change in the neurotransmitter release machinery at the synapse.
