- Abstract
The article discusses a study in Australia which examined neighbourhood, family, and individual predictors of adolescent antisocial behaviour (ASB). The study, which obtained information from the Mater University Study of Pregnancy (MUSP) and census data of Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), revealed that less than a percent of differences in antisocial behaviour was affected by statistical local area (SLA). Models of familial and individual variables and SLA-level variables indicated that the strongest adolescent antisocial behaviour predictors are those measuring disruptions in the poor school performance, early childhood aggression, and parenting processes. It notes that programs for enhancement of parenting practices are important in diminishing adolescent antisocial behaviour.
