- Authors
THUMIGER, CHIARA
- Abstract
The article examines the issue of vision and knowledge in fifth century Greek drama. It studies the different components of viewing including the subject as viewer, the world as a viewed object, and flawed viewers. The article proposes that visual experience can be expressed in various ways of viewing the world as shown in Greek plays like Socphocles' "Ajax," and Euripides' "Helen." It proposes the imagery of light and darkness to illustrate the range of historical and cultural shifts.
