- Abstract
Introduction: To report the effects of the protocol "school of modern column" on fitness cardiorespiratory and the physical fitness in patients with chronic lombalgy assisted at Unipar Physiotherapy School Clinic in Toledo/PR. Materials and Methods: Almost experimental study whose sample was composed for carriers of chronic lombalgy of origin mechanics, of both the genders and older than 18 years. The main criteria of exclusion were: suggestion of lumbar pain of origin not mechanics and the lack of adhesion to the program. The volunteers were divided, for convenience, between the group of control (GC), submitted to the physiotherapeutic treatment conservative, and the experimental group (GE), whose intervention was the protocol "school of modern column" realized frequently of twice a week. Both treatments had duration of one month. 43 volunteers were interviewed, however the final sample was composed for 23 volunteers, being eight in GC and 15 in GE. The variables of the study were the physical fitness, measured for the index of Kasari, and fitness cardiorespiratory, esteem indirectly for a questionnaire without exercises. The variables were measured before and after the application of the treatments. The used statistical test was paired t test, adopting (a=0.05). Results: The comparisons made for both the groups about the physical fitness didn't show significant differences. Although fitness cardiorespiratory was statistical significant (p=0.0106) only in GE. Conclusion: The protocol "school of modern column" was capable to influence positively the fitness cardiorespiratory in this sample, but not it physical fitness.
