- Title
Becoming Hopi: A History ed. by Wesley Bernardini et al. (review).
- Authors
Haley, Brian D.
- Abstract
Hopi traditional history of emergence into the present Fourth World, followed by migrations and convergence at the "center place" of the Hopi Mesas, expresses similar ideas. Widespread awareness of the Hopi Mesas as a potential refuge is suggested by arrivals of refugees from the east after the Spanish arrived, some of whom settled permanently with the Hopi. With priority given to Hopi concepts and terms throughout the text, Becoming Hopi is also an interesting introduction to Hopi culture.
