- Abstract
The article presents a proposal for the conservation of the name Pterophyllum. The name was introduced for a genus that has two species of fossil pinnate leaves, P. minus and P. majus, from southern Sweden and appointed them to the name Cycadaceae. The proposal is to avoid confusion because the name is used in botanical and geological literature. Rejection of the proposal would oblige the renaming of several Pterophyllum species for which no optional generic name is available.
