- Abstract
The article reports on the move of the international climate community to have tempered its expectations and looked for graceful exit in light of limited negotiating days for global-warming summit in Copenhagen, Denmark. It notes the commitment of the European Union (EU) to reduce its greenhouse-gas emissions by 20% below 1990 levels by 2020 and by 30% if there is a global deal. It mentions the call of the Group of 77 (G77) on rich countries to cut their emissions by 40% by 2020. The proposal of developing nations to allow rich countries, which are unable to reduce their emissions, to make up the shortfall with cash is cited.
