- Abstract
This essay examines the novel "Conjure-Man Dies, A Tale of Dark Harlem" by Rudolph Fisher. It studies the detective methods used to investigate the murder of Western African conjure man N'gana Frimbo. It examines the relationship between Africans and Americans and discusses the racial identity of the doctor and police inspector investigating the murder. It looks into the metaphorical significance of African American intellectual life and the cultural distance between the Harlemites and Frimbo.
