- Abstract
Professor Barbara Węglarska, a renowned Polish scientist, made significant contributions to the fields of tardigrade physiology, morphology, taxonomy, and faunistics. Despite her education being interrupted by World War II, she later earned her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. Throughout her career, she published numerous research articles and co-authored a textbook on insect developmental biology. Professor Węglarska organized an international symposium on tardigrades and received several state medals for her contributions to science and higher education in Poland. She passed away in 2020 at the age of 98, leaving behind a scientific legacy of groundbreaking studies on tardigrades and advancements in taxonomy and faunistics. Colleagues remember her passion for research and mentorship.
