- Abstract
In the article "Christian Relationship Ethics: Historical Developments - Biblical Foundations," the significance of the liturgy of the sacrament of marriage in Christian relationship ethics is discussed. The author, Martin M. Lintner, emphasizes the sacramental nature of marriage and its effects of grace. He suggests reflecting on the importance of faith for the sacramental character of marriage and proposes a reevaluation of the solemn nuptial blessing. Lintner argues that the marital benediction could present a better logic in the celebration of the wedding. He calls for further development of the doctrine of the sacrament of marriage and urges representatives of canon law and sacramental theology to take this proposal seriously.
