- Abstract
The morphostructural features of temporary teeth cause certain clinical and therapeutic implications. To avoid opening of the pulp chamber during tooth preparation, conservative restorations are required, adapted to the size and colour of the temporary teeth. Dental developmental anomalies (DOA) may occur during the stages of tooth development, due to several disturbing factors. They m ay also result from the action of either genetic or environmental factors (e.g. metabolic, chemical, physical factors) or from the combined action of both categories in any of the odontogenesis stages (1-3). Depending on the possible result of the action of the etiological factors during different stages of dental development, DDAs are classified into: anomalies in number, size, shape, structure and colour. Medical history and clinical examination are the first methods of investigation required in the detection of DOA. Fallowing the assumption or the clinical finding of a possible anomaly, further examinations are recommended.
