- Title
Defibrillation Testing: The Need for a Definitive Trial.
- Authors
DURAY, GABOR Z.; HOHNLOSER, STEFAN H.
- Abstract
The article discusses the need for a definitive trial for cardiac defibrillation testing (DT) and discusses an article by Jeff S. Healey in the current issue regarding the testing procedures for implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD). The author goes on to summarize research suggesting that routine DT during ICD insertion offers little benefit for many ICD recipients. As a result, the author concludes that a prospective, randomized clinical trial on DT should be performed.
