- Abstract
The article presents a study that examined the polymorphism of atherosclerosis genes involved in lipoprotein metabolism. The main objective of this study was to study the association of the HindIII polymorphism with myocardial infarction (MI) in ethnic Russians and ethnic Tatars from Bashkortostan. Researchers studied 166 unrelated patients (98 Russians and 68 Tatars) aged 24-55, who suffered Q-wave myocardial infarction but not diabetes mellitus or other chronic diseases. The allele and genotype frequencies in Russians and Tatars were summarized.
