- Abstract
The objective was to analyze the scientific evidence on the behavior of nursing professionals in relation to cervical cancer screening strategies. Search procedures were carried out from October to November 2016, through the Virtual Health Library, to access the following databases: Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences and Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online. The sample consisted of 6 articles, from the analysis the following results were obtained: 67% of the articles related to cervical cancer showed that the level of knowledge and practice of the Pap smear is adequate among nursing workers. However, most do not perform within the recommended interval, and most perform the exam annually. It is concluded that nurses, even with a high level of education and trainers of health professionals, may not carry out prevention in its entirety, emphasizing a gap between what is recommended as a health professional and that exercised as a woman.
