- Abstract
The author focuses on characterization of drug-resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Nepal. He informs that isoniazid (INH)-resistant isolates have mutations in the katG gene and Ser315Thr substitution is more prevalent in INH-resistant isolates. He also mentions that mutation has not been observed in rifampicin-resistant isolates and spoligotyping and multilocus sequence typing of isolates have revealed that 69 percent of them belong to Beijing, China family.
