- Abstract
The article focuses on the cell protective mechanism of mitochondrial apurinic/ apyrimidinic endonuclease 1 (APE1) against oxidative stress. It mentions the generation of expression vectors for mitochondria-targeting APE 1 which include wild-type (mtAPEl), redox activity-deficient (C65S), and endonuclease activity-deficient (E96A). The study reveals that overexpression of APE 1 in mitochondria shows cell protective effect against oxidative stress.
