- Abstract
O carcinoma de células escamosas (CCE) é um tumor maligno de crescimento lento que surge do epitélio escamoso. É responsável por 15% dos tumores de pele em gatos domesticados, mas parece ser incomum em felídeos silvestres. Neste relato, uma jaguatirica (Leopardus pardalis) adulta de vida livre foi resgatada no Rio de Janeiro, Brasil com histórico de extensa lesão facial nas regiões frontal, periorbital e nasal, apresentando aumento de volume, ulceração e áreas necróticas. O animal foi anestesiado para biópsia e exame citopatológico. A coleta foi realizada pela técnica de punção por agulha fina. As lâminas foram coradas com Panótico Rápido®. A avaliação citopatológica revelou células escamosas com maturação assíncrona e, por vezes, com morfologia fusiforme e com aspecto de girino. As células exibiam características malignas como anisocitose, anisocariose, binucleação e nucléolo evidente. Os achados citopatológicos sugeriram o diagnóstico de carcinoma de células escamosas, e o exame histológico confirmou o diagnóstico. A jaguatirica foi eutanasiada devido ao prognóstico reservado. Ao nosso conhecimento este é o primeiro caso relatado de diagnóstico citopatológico de CCE em jaguatirica de vida livre.
