- Abstract
Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common skin cancer worldwide. It can cause morbidity to the patient if left untreated, and can be costly to treat. In 2021, the British Association of Dermatologists published the updated management guidelines, which included an updated review of BCC in adults and recommendations for its treatment. This article is a review of the up-to-date knowledge about the aetiology, pathogenesis, and clinical types of this tumour, as well as an overview of the new updated guidelines.
