The author discusses the attainment of justice by learning who or what can influence its accomplishment. It divides the article into three parts which are composed of the author's formative experiences, engagement with law and politics as a black, southern female attorney handling disenfranchisement in Virginia, and the values that sustained her striving towards justice which are experiencing wholeness, accepting vulnerability, and nurturing radical imagination.
