- Abstract
This work provides perceptual insights into the recent events during April 2015 in Baltimore's inner-city - riots that rocked a city mourning the death of young black man, Freddie Gray, while in custody, from police brutality. In this article, the author asserts that understanding this brutality, and the associated organizing concepts of politicization and militarization of the police, are essential for accurately analyzing the changing nature of the of police's activities as the agents of executing the state's power within the parameters of American constitutional democracy.
